William Utermohlen died in 2007 of Alzheimer's Disease. His artwork represents the most complete and coherent view of a patient's experience with dementia.In 1995, Utermohlen learned that he was suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease and began a series of self portraits that reflect his descent into Alzheimer's.
