I read the article below on the website of the Apex Herald. I almost deleted the alert link before reading.
Once I did read the article, my eyes popped out of my head. I had an immediate thought, this is the way to make it happen.
It is the little guy, the one off, the small group that is going to help solve the problem -- funds for Alzheimer's research.

Imagine this. The Guardian Angel is a thrift store located in Fuquay-Varina, NC. My point?
As of May 2011, the Guardian Angel donated $1,200,000.00 for Alzheimer's Research and Respite Care.
Now there is a vision I can support -- Alzheimer's Research and Respite Care.
Last year (fiscal year) 2010, the Alzheimer's Association donated $28 million to research. So as you can see, $1,200,000 is a big number.
What if there were a hundred operations like this all over the world? Or, thousands?
This is the kind of activity that gives me hope and makes me feel proud of the Alzheimer's community.

Guardian Angel Requesting Donations
The Guardian Angel Thrift is a non-profit organization that supports Alzheimer's Research. Unless they are related to or care for someone who has Alzheimer's, many people do not understand the intensity of its effects - not only on the person with the disease, but the caregiver as well.
The Guardian Angel has formed a team of "Angel Ambassadors." The team was created to educate the community on the reasons behind the Guardian Angel Thrift. It is not just a 'thrift store.'
Thanks to public support, the Guardian Angel has been able to contribute $1,200,000 for Alzheimer's research and respite care in North Carolina since its creation. All of the profits after operational expenses continue to be donated to Alzheimer's research. The Guardian Angel currently has 48 employees.
Instead of waiting until the end of summer to toss out those old clothes and get ready for winter, why not take advantage of your AC and weed out the extra clothes you don't need anymore and take them to the Guardian Angel Thrift store on Main Street. They accept clothing as well as any and all household goods and furniture. What a great way to help donate towards Alzheimer's research!
