Right now, this is not happening. We must all become advocates of clinical trials and clinical trial research.
The fact. No new drug can be approved until a Phase 3 clinical trial is completed. Then and only then, can the results be submitted to the FDA for approval of a new drug or medication.
All of the existing and open clinical trials for Alzheimer's have been searching for eligible participants for years. Years.
Greater participation by caregivers and their loved one is the only way to shorten the path to approval for an effective treatment of Alzheimer's or Lewy Body dementia.

HEADWAY-DLB is a Phase 2b clinical research study evaluating an investigational medication, RVT-101, for dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB).
The purpose of the study is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of RVT-101 in treating patients with a diagnosis of DLB.

Right now, there are no medications specially approved for the treatment of Dementia with Lewy bodies in the United States.
Lewy Body dementia patients:
- tend to be younger than those with Alzheimer's,
- deteriorate more quickly,
- develop extreme symptoms like hallucinations,
- and, experience violent nightmares early in the disease process.
