Today, I was contacted by Tami Marek-Loper, the President and CTO of Serendipity Puzzles, located in Wisconsin. Ms. Marek-Loper told me that Serendipity Puzzles has approximately 500 new puzzles that they would like to donate to Puzzles To Remember. PUZZLES TO REMEMBER provides puzzles to nursing homes, Veterans Administration (VA) facilities, and other facilities that care for patients suffering from Alzheimer's disease and dementia.
Puzzles To Remember has distributed 4044 puzzles, to 267 Alzheimer’s caregiving facilities, in all 50 states and several Canadian provinces.
Serendipity Puzzles makes beautiful puzzles. Many of them can be viewed here.
I suggested that Ms. Marek-Loper allow me to research some Alzheimer’s facilities in her area where she might bring the puzzles directly. She responded that she is willing to deliver the puzzles to Alzheimer’s facilities in Milwaukee and Madison Wisconsin, as well as Chicago, Illinois.
I know the Alzheimer's Reading Room has readers from across the world. I thought this might be a good opportunity to ask the readers for their input.
Do any of you in the Milwaukee, Madison, or Chicago areas know of or have loved ones in Alzheimer’s facilities where the residents might really benefit from these puzzles? Or, are you associated with either a nursing home or Veteran's administration facility in those areas that cares for dementia patients?
If so, please send us the contact information and on a best efforts basis we would try to get puzzles to those facilities.
